The Mavericks Civilian Space Foundation is an educational foundation which provides educational and research resources for the purposing of granting support and competitive prizes to drive innovation and education focused on civilian space flight and space exploration.
EDUCATION
MAVERICKS provides information knowledge bases, research partnerships, continuing education and educational programs and grants for members, high school students & faculty, and universities internationally.
Through our ‘Mavericks in the Classroom” program, high school and university students participate as team members year round with our partners and members, performing real terrestrial and space flight experiments at the Mavericks Space Education Research Center, “SERC,” located outside Reno, Nevada.
Science and technology are suppose to be fun, hands-on experiences, but without experimentation opportunities they can participate in, they becomes dull and boring subjects, closing the door on their interest and creativity.
These and other programs replenish the excitement and creativity associated with science and technology as a future career path or educational area of interest for our youth and society. They provide memorable opportunities upon which they may exercise and test their scientific and technological understandings of the world around them.
RESEARCH
High school students have the opportunity to participate as research assistants in partnership with real government and university research programs, performing sub-orbital remote sensing and payload lift experiments. Some high schools have their own rocket development programs for which we provide advisement and flight services.
University researchers partner with Mavericks members to develop and fly research experiments and test next generation space transportation and extra-terrestrial exploration technology.
MAVERICKS members are looking to reinvent the technology developed in the 1960’s and 1970’s, that forms the foundation of global space exploration technology today. From innovative propellants, nano-thermitic & composite materials, hypersonic vehicle design, supersonic decelerators, autonomous vehicles, and reusable low-cost payload lift capacity, the opportunities to innovate are endless.

The Mavericks Civilian Space Foundation is seeking qualified sponsors, who would be willing to make these initial 3 year commitments for a particular competition category, and in exchange for sponsorship of a competition, the name of that competition will be put in the name of the sponsors for the life of the competition.
